A Message From Ken Keelor, CEO

Dear Valued Member,

Since my last email to you, I have been thinking a lot about our team members, members and community. As the number of cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, now is a critical time for us all to be mindful of what we are doing to help stop the spread of this virus. We know from health officials that frequent cleaning and sanitizing, social distancing and wearing face masks helps reduce the spread. We also know that as a community, our numbers are far too high and that we all need to take extra measures now in order to protect each other.

Early on in this pandemic, Calgary Co-op implemented a number of health and safety measures in our stores and we have maintained these measures throughout the pandemic. With the numbers continuing to climb, we know it is crucial that we continue to focus on the health and safety of our members and team members. So in addition to the strict cleaning and sanitizing guidelines already in place in our stores and workplaces, we are also making face masks mandatory in all of our locations and lines of business (unless exempt due to a medical condition) and reminding everyone to wear these masks correctly (over the nose and mouth). While we have always adhered to all local bylaws with respect to mask usage, these bylaws are not in place in all communities where we have stores. We recognize this is a small step but a very important one.

As we continue to navigate this pandemic, you may also see the reintroduction of some previous safety measures including placing capacity limits in store to ensure physical distancing is possible. We appreciate waiting in line or wearing a mask is not always ideal, however these small steps will have a big impact especially over the coming festive season.

The safety of our members and team members and community is of paramount importance.

We thank you for your continued support and for your kindness towards our team members, who are working hard to ensure our stores remain safe places to shop.
